Hey Gary we loved stopping at your station. we loved the stories and learned a great deal about the mother road. By the way, you were right about the TeePee. They wanted $2.00 before they would let us go in. We respectfully declined. You are a great steward to the mother road and I'm sure we'll see you again.

Hey Gary & Lena, Shane and I stopped by on Saurday June 26, I was the crazy lady snapping all those pictures.Shane and I really enjoyed your hospitality, time & knowledge about Route 66 you were very informative. We stopped at the 2 places you told us about , we really enjoyed both places and before we got through looking at all the old buildings and antiques at Red Oak my Camera battery died. So we stopped at a Burger King to eat and to charge up my Camera battery, so that I could take more pictures along our route to see the 4 Women on the Route 66, but unfortunately for us they were closed, but we did look around and I did take more pictures. Thanks again for your time and friendship that made our trip more memorable. Hope to see you and Lena again someday soon. Shane and Bonnie Dodge from Lonoke, Arkansas

My Dad and Mom owned the station and store across Route 66 from Gay Parita. I spent lots of time visiting with Gay as a little girl. We had such a wonderful little community in which to grow up. I know Fred and Gay would be so pleased that their place and they are not forgotten. What memories these pictures bring back!

Its amazing that there are so many people who don't seem to catch the rt 66 spirit, when there are those of us who just can't get enough. My grandson was thrilled with the picture i took of you holding your Lightning Mcqueen can of oil from "cars" I hope you are doing well!!!!! Blair Cheney from Idaho, USA

Gary, After our wonderful stop at your gas station in the early spring of this year (2009) and the purchase of the books that you offered - "Images of 66" (book one) by David Wickline and the "EZ 66 Guide" by Jerry McClanahan - Robin and I planed our trip West on Route 66 for over six months. You set the goal for us to meet everyone (business owners - supports) of the road. With our stop to see you on November 16th, 2009 after our three (3) weeks on the road out West our trip for this year was complete. Everyone that we wanted to see and talk to were waiting for us at every stop all along the way. We had all business owners sign our book "Images" on the picture of their business - talking to them made the trip so special. I even had my hair cut by Angel Delgadillo in Seligman, Az. By the way - We liked and purchased your new 2010 t-shirts, plus one of the 2009 t-shirt. You need a t-shirt with the picture of your gas station on it, the people will purchase it... Thanks again for making our trip the BEST you are the GREATEST.

Gary - After months and months of planning our trip on the Mother Road our trip took a new direction and meaning after our visit with you on 14 Sep 2009. You showed us how to read, understand and maneuver through Jerry McClanahan's book "EZ 66 Guide for Travelers". It made the rest of our trip to LA easier and we saw a lot more than we had originally planned. The donut and coffee we shared with you hit the spot but our conversation with you was priceless. You are exactly the kind of folks we were hoping to meet along the Route and especially in Missouri . As you suggested we stopped at Red Oaks and that was the second best experience of the day. We met Lowell Davis and he gave us a tour of his home. We sat with him on his front porch and we chatted for almost an hour. Thank you for making our Route 66 trip so rememberable. Friends for life.

Thanks to you, we have realised a (the?) dream of our life. Illinois and especially Missouri are for us the best souvenirs of the Road. We did not feel as much as with you the spirit of the 66 when driving more west... THANK YOU AGAIN, you are a legend, and legends are forever.

Gary, it was a wonderful experience meeting you and your wife. Having taken vacations as a child down Route 66 from Oklahoma to California in the late 50s to early 60s, I have long felt to urge to return and explore this great old road and its history. Over the last few years I have introduced the history and allure of "The Mother Road" to my wife and she has really taken to the adventure of the "road trip". Meeting you and seeing all that you have to offer those passing through is really special. Your beautifully done Sinclair station helps to give an appreciation of a time long past - a time that was more simple but hard by todays standards. One of the most memorable moments on this trip was sitting with you in that old garage and having a soda. Thank you for all of the information and your hospitality. We will stop by again on our next adventure!

Dear Gary, It was just lovely to meet you and listen to all the interesting histories about Route 66. Life is not about things nor money, it is on the contrary about people, and I am sure will look at that even more after having met you. Again, I will always be deeply grateful about the book you gave me, I promise you I will give it away only for one reason: the charity action, otherwise it will remain with me. As promised I herewith attach you the article of newspaper where the ROUTE 66 PROJECT is explained, as well as the picture taken with you and Xavier. I will also attach the link to the daily video we posted and also the newsletter we daily send to our fans. Gary: Thank you so much for the wonderful time we had with you at your place. (June 28th, 09). With out your knowledge and wonderful help, we would have missed so much on our trip. Though short, we plan to do another section of the highway soon. My husband enjoys telling the story of almost switching water bottles with you and the sores in your mouth!!! So funny. You told us you would take us on the trip of a life time and you certainly got us started on a wonderful Road. Thank you so much and hope to see you again. Friends for life.!

Gary, Our Prowler group had a great time at your station today. Your hospitality and personality made everyones day. That tirp about Red Oak was the best one I've ever received. We talked at length with Lowell Davis and enjoyed him almost as much as we did you. Thanks again from the Plymouth Prowler Road Gang.

The best 1 1/2 we spent on the whole trip-- you were a hoot and we loved all of your stories and your goodies. I have pictures to send you-- do I do it on this site?? Hugs to you and your wife-- we traveled 6,600 miles and are glad to be back in northern WI on our lake but we have great memories of our trip and Bill says it was the best ever !! Judi Grove

Rural Missouri Cover This article brought me back to my childhood. My Dad was a Sinclair oil distributor. He had roughly 6 or 7 stations he would deliver gas to and me being the tom-boy of the family would tag along any chance I got. I remember the gas wars and handing out the S&H green stamps to the cars at the pump. Each station held a certain "treat" everytime I came with Dad, one owner kept a roll of nickles in a cigar box for me to play the pin ball machine while Dad unloaded the gas, yep you could still play 5 balls for a nickle. My Dad passed away in 1998 but I kept many of the items that I could not part with. I have his silver ash tray that has Dino in the middle with the Sinclair logo below and many of the patches he wore on his shirt, I still have from my childhood the transistor radio that looks like a gas pump and the plastic Dino piggy bank. We had an auction when Mom passed away and put Sinclair items out at auction mainly to clean out the house but brought hundreds of dollars from Sinclair collectors, we actually made more money on the Sinclair items than we did the rest of the auction, guess Dad was still looking out after us kids........ The picture on page 3 really makes me blink, I know those hats and have many of those logos on the shirt, seems like our back porch was always painted Sinclair green. Anyway thanks for the wonderful trip down memory lane.....and the stop at the gas station along the way.

my wife & I visited today after seeing an article in our local (Clever, MO) rural electrical news letter. Gary was awesome, the station & shop are awesome. He told us to check out Spencer Garage & Red Oak II. They were awsome too!!!!!!!! I think that more signage & recognition is needed so that travelers on I-44 realize what they are driving by. Let me help with this probelm if I can!!!!

Gary, Thank you for the stories about the history of Route 66 and your station. The visit, April 17, 2009, and meeting you with my brother-in-law and his two daughters. The four of us stayed to hear the many stories you told as well as when you showed us your station with all itâ??s artifacts. It was a pleasure to have heard these stories during our visit. The ROUTE 66 BOOK was a great help to us to see Route 66, it was our first experience. Gene Martin

Hi again! Grandpa's neon is BRIGHT! I like the little gift shop place where Grandpa keeps all of the T shirts. That must have taken a long time to fix!

Gary, Nice website; I didn't know you had one until just now. It's nice to see the pictures of your station, especially the historic ones and those of you in the Visitors Photos section. I can't thank you enough for all the help you lent the Pulse while it was still going. We owe a lot of our limited success to you, Gary! Take care and I hope to meet you in person some day when traveling the Road. Your friend, Jason

Hello Gary, I was just reading online that you have acquired a new sculpture for the station. I hope you can get some pictures posted online soon so that we all can have a peek. Karen and I really enjoyed our Route 66 roadtrip last summer, so much so, that this summer we are going to drive The Lincoln Highway. I know its not Route 66, but it should be almost as good a trip. Take care. Bill & Karen
