Gary, After our wonderful stop at your gas station in the early spring of this year (2009) and the purchase of the books that you offered - "Images of 66" (book one) by David Wickline and the "EZ 66 Guide" by Jerry McClanahan - Robin and I planed our trip West on Route 66 for over six months. You set the goal for us to meet everyone (business owners - supports) of the road. With our stop to see you on November 16th, 2009 after our three (3) weeks on the road out West our trip for this year was complete. Everyone that we wanted to see and talk to were waiting for us at every stop all along the way. We had all business owners sign our book "Images" on the picture of their business - talking to them made the trip so special. I even had my hair cut by Angel Delgadillo in Seligman, Az. By the way - We liked and purchased your new 2010 t-shirts, plus one of the 2009 t-shirt. You need a t-shirt with the picture of your gas station on it, the people will purchase it... Thanks again for making our trip the BEST you are the GREATEST.

Gary - After months and months of planning our trip on the Mother Road our trip took a new direction and meaning after our visit with you on 14 Sep 2009. You showed us how to read, understand and maneuver through Jerry McClanahan's book "EZ 66 Guide for Travelers". It made the rest of our trip to LA easier and we saw a lot more than we had originally planned. The donut and coffee we shared with you hit the spot but our conversation with you was priceless. You are exactly the kind of folks we were hoping to meet along the Route and especially in Missouri . As you suggested we stopped at Red Oaks and that was the second best experience of the day. We met Lowell Davis and he gave us a tour of his home. We sat with him on his front porch and we chatted for almost an hour. Thank you for making our Route 66 trip so rememberable. Friends for life.

I loved Red Oak II as well.... Thanks again, Ronda

Hello Gary, when leaving France for the route 66, we hoped we would meet special people. Gary, you are one of these, and you made us feel the spirit of the Mother Road. Thanks to you, we have realised a (the?) dream of our life. Illinois and especially Missouri are for us the best souvenirs of the Road. We did not feel as much as with you the spirit of the 66 when driving more west... THANK YOU AGAIN, you are a legend, and legends are forever.

Gary, it was a wonderful experience meeting you and your wife. Having taken vacations as a child down Route 66 from Oklahoma to California in the late 50s to early 60s, I have long felt to urge to return and explore this great old road and its history. Over the last few years I have introduced the history and allure of "The Mother Road" to my wife and she has really taken to the adventure of the "road trip". Meeting you and seeing all that you have to offer those passing through is really special. Your beautifully done Sinclair station helps to give an appreciation of a time long past - a time that was more simple but hard by todays standards. One of the most memorable moments on this trip was sitting with you in that old garage and having a soda. Thank you for all of the information and your hospitality. We will stop by again on our next adventure!

Dear Gary, It was just lovely to meet you and listen to all the interesting histories about Route 66. Life is not about things nor money, it is on the contrary about people, and I am sure will look at that even more after having met you. Again, I will always be deeply grateful about the book you gave me, I promise you I will give it away only for one reason: the charity action, otherwise it will remain with me. As promised I herewith attach you the article of newspaper where the ROUTE 66 PROJECT is explained, as well as the picture taken with you and Xavier. I will also attach the link to the daily video we posted and also the newsletter we daily send to our fans. I hope you will enjoy reading because it talks about Missouri people and one in particular: Mr. Gary http://route66forabruzzo.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/Newsletter05.pdf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2yIb9ujo0E Please keep following us on the web because we will come back to you... Rural Missouri Cover This article brought me back to my childhood. My Dad was a Sinclair oil distributor. He had roughly 6 or 7 stations he would deliver gas to and me being the tom-boy of the family would tag along any chance I got. I remember the gas wars and handing out the S&H green stamps to the cars at the pump. Each station held a certain "treat" everytime I came with Dad, one owner kept a roll of nickles in a cigar box for me to play the pin ball machine while Dad unloaded the gas, yep you could still play 5 balls for a nickle. My Dad passed away in 1998 but I kept many of the items that I could not part with. I have his silver ash tray that has Dino in the middle with the Sinclair logo below and many of the patches he wore on his shirt, I still have from my childhood the transistor radio that looks like a gas pump and the plastic Dino piggy bank. We had an auction when Mom passed away and put Sinclair items out at auction mainly to clean out the house but brought hundreds of dollars from Sinclair collectors, we actually made more money on the Sinclair items than we did the rest of the auction, guess Dad was still looking out after us kids........ The picture on page 3 really makes me blink, I know those hats and have many of those logos on the shirt, seems like our back porch was always painted Sinclair green. Anyway thanks for the wonderful trip down memory lane.....and the stop at the gas station along the way.

He told us to check out Spencer Garage & Red Oak II. They were awsome too!!!!!!!! I think that more signage & recognition is needed so that travelers on I-44 realize what they are driving by. Let me help with this probelm if I can!!!!

We made it to Santa Monica, CA without any problems. My personal photo album has almost 3000 photos! My favorites were taken at Gay parita, of you, the station and especially inside your garage with that beautiful truck and alll of the great artifacts from the "Good ol' days on Rout 66." I am working on a CD/DVD of the trip and will send you a copy when I finally get it done! Stay well, have fun, and who knows I may need more kicks on Route 66!

Gary, what a wonderful time Robin and myself had at your Service Station yesterday, you are the greatest. Hope to re-visit soon, this time in the Corvette. The books that you offer for sale are the most complete that I have read in my years about my true love - The Mother Road.

Hi Gary, visited with you on my Rte 66 motorcycle trip on June 10, 2008. Enjoyed meeting you and thanks for the orange soda. Appreciate the photo & hand-drawn map that you gave me. Was interesting to hear that I share a surname with the original owners of Gay Parita. Will stop by if I'm in the area again.

My dear Gary!!! It's been long since I stepped in your place on my Route66-Trip last summer not knowing what a warm, nice and great person was there to make this day one of the best I had on my whole trip. I really enjoyed your company and the fun we had talking about what's going on in the world, about life and girls. Gary I will never forget you and hope I will soon be able to come back to see you again. All the best from Austria - manuel

Gary, I have copies of photographs of Gay and Fred Mason taken with the Likins in Wyoming in the early part of the 20th century prior to the Masons returning to Missouri. I would like to send the photographs to you but do not have your address. My wife's relatives were the Likins from that area and she appreciated the information that I brought back from your station. Thanks for the great history and conversation when I was there last July.

Gary, Have never personally met you yet, but really enjoyed the few times talking to you on the phone. You and Bill Shea in Springfield, Illinois have a lot in common and as a dynamic duo would make BAtman and Robin look like the looney tunes. Keep up the good work and hop to meet you sometime soon. Rich, "Wise" Guy and other 26 of Montana's legacy
